Restaurant Mandarijn in Amsterdam

In this previous post, I already wrote about Restaurant Mandarijn, I went back for couple of times after that. Last time the food and service really impressed me, so I decided to write a seperate post about it.

Restaurant Mandarijn/ Fu Lu
Location: Rokin 26, 1012 KS Amsterdam
Telephone: 020 623 0885
Authentic level: ○○○○●
Price: €€€
Service: ○○○○

This time I went with Bram for lunch and we ordered three dishes:

蒜泥白肉 Thinly sliced pork in garlic spicy sauce

沸腾水煮鱼 Boiled fresh fish (Sea Perch) in hot sauce

辣子鸡 Fried chicken with Sichuan pepper and chili

Our favorite dish was the thinly sliced pork in garlic spicy sauce, the flavor of the sauce is not too spicy that you cannot taste the food anymore, with some cucumber slices under the pork, the dish tastes very refreshing.

I ordered the fish before, as last time, they serve you a whole fish instead of only some small pieces of it, so you will definitely have enough with 2 persons. If you don’t have a very big stomach, I would recommend you to order two main dishes for 2 persons for lunch, it’s more than enough in my opinion. Restaurant Mandarijn does it very well in terms of giving enough for each dish. The prices might look quite expensive at first glance, but once you realize how much they actually serve, the price justifies.

Fried chicken with Sichuan pepper and chili is probably one of my favorite dishes of all time. I like how Mandarijn puts effort in presenting their food in a nice way. Real Chinese food don’t always come in with a take-way box 😉 The chicken though, could be a bit more tender, overall the food was really good!

Don’t miss out Mandarijn when you are in Amsterdam  🙂

Until next time.
